About:

Snøhetta is an International firm who has worked on the 9/11 Memorial Museum Pavillion, and just wrapped up the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art expansion. In their own words, “Our work strives to enhance our sense of place, identity and relationship to others and the physical spaces we inhabit, whether feral or human-made. Museums, markets, reindeer observatories, landscapes and dollhouses get the same care and attention to purpose.”

Slack, for the uninformed, is a communication tool for business. Allowing different teams to communicate on multiple channels, and making organization and conversation transparent, slack is able to be everywhere you go. It is also the world’s fastest growing work-place software.

Slack’s new headquarters in Manhattan is 12,000 sq. feet of open space.  Snøhetta aligned Slack’s operational goals along with the inspiration of New York’s manicured courtyards. The physical workspace is filled with natural light and greenery. The idea of the open corridor is to promote working collaboratively and in the company of the different departments within Slack’s organization. There are still private offices and meeting rooms, which have been constructed to minimize sound and maximize seating.

Snøhetta has been able to construct an office space that exemplifies Slack’s business model. Not only exemplifies but also creates a stronger brand.
